Delta Tau Delta Merchandise, History, and Other Information

Display Your Pride By Wearing Delta Tau Delta Merchandise

Delta Tau Delta was originally formed at Bethany College in 1858. A group of eight men started Delta Tau Delta as a secret society in order to create higher integrity in the Neotrophian Literary Society contests. They watched as a group of students collected enough votes to win the contest prize for their candidate instead of the prize being rightfully awarded to the person with the best performance. By creating their own group, Delta Tau Delta, they could ban together in the interests of academic fairness. These eight founding fathers were Richard H. Alfred, Eugene Tarr, John C. Johnson, Alexander E. Earle, William R. Cunningham, John L. N. Hunt, Jacob S. Lowe, and Henry K. Bell.

Some of the famous Alumni of Delta Tau Delta include Governor Brad Henry, Congressman Tim Johnson, U. S. Secretary of Treasury John Snow, CEO of General Motors Richard Wagner, actor Drew Carey, actor Will Ferrell, actor Matthew McConaughey, NFL quarterback John Elway, Olympic gold metal winner Al Oerter, and many more. The Delta Tau Delta official colors are royal purple, white, and gold, and can be seen on sweatshirts, hats, clothing, hoody sweatshirts, T-shirts, and other merchandise worn by members.

Delta Tau Delta pledges are seen on the campuses wearing pins, hats, shirts, and more to show their excitement and dedication in wanting to become part of this great fraternity. The induction ceremony makes new pledges into official brothers of the fraternity, and this is a memorable night for all.
