Sorority Fundraiser - Spa Treatment

Grab Your Sorority Flip Flops and Prepare to Be Pampered

Spas are all the rage today, and having a Sorority Spa Day can also be a great way to raise money for your sorority’s philanthropy or next event. There are a number of ways to put on your sorority flip flops and have a fun spa day, while still raising a good amount of money for your cause.

Before you start planning your spa day, you will need to decide on what type of spa day you want to have. There are some options in planning a spa day, depending on the effort you want to put into the day. You have the option of having a professional come in and do the work for you, or you and your sisters can create the “spa” yourselves.

Having professionals come in to provide services for your spa day can take away from your overall profit, but they can save you time and effort. You can go all out and hire professional masseurs and aestheticians or you can work with your local Mary Kay or Avon representative to run your spa day. If you want to hire a massage therapist, make-up artist, or aesthetician, try going to the local schools for massage therapy and aesthetics. You may be able to get a significant discount on the services by offering the students practical experience. You can find your local Mary Kay or Avon representative via their websites. They will probably offer to give a certain percentage of sales to your cause.

If you want to provide your own spa services, you will want to keep things natural and simple. Unless you have people in your sorority that specialize in these things, trying to do a chemical peel with no experience can be disastrous. There are a number of recipes available for creating your own scrubs, shampoos, masks, and more. Keep your services limited to manicures<, pedicures, and easy facials.

Now that you know how to provide the services for your spa day, you will then plan your date for your spa day. If you are working with outside service providers, you will want to have several dates in mind to find one that works for both of you. Sometimes it is a good idea to have your spa day around a stressful time of year, like midterms or finals. This will add to the desire to just put on a robe, some sorority flip flops, and begin the pampering.

After your date is set, decide on where you will have your spa day. The best place to have your spa day is in your chapter house, because it probably already has a warm an elegant feeling. However, some service providers may be able to offer you better services in their own settings.

Once you determine your date and location for your spa day, you will then need to prepare for the day. If you hire someone outside of your sorority to provide the services, the day will be one in which you and your sisters can participate almost equally. Yet, you will still need a rotation schedule for certain tasks.

You will need to start off by purchasing items needed for the spa day. You will need to decide on costs early, so you will now how much to charge participants. If you are making your own spa products, the ingredients will need to be purchased, as will extra towels. Here is a list of items you may also need for your spa day: nail files, nail sticks, toe separators, cotton balls, washcloths, nail decorations, hair bands, and plastic baggies. You may even want to purchase sorority flip flops to give away as gifts for everyone who attends. If you work with an outside vendor, they may supply the extra items you need or give you a specific list of items you will have to provide. Do not forget to add food and drink into your supplies. A simple, elegant, and inexpensive spread of food will enhance your overall day. Consider making simple finger sandwiches and small cookies with a nice punch to everyone who attends.

Once you have calculated the cost of your supplies and services. You need to take into the consideration the cost of your supplies and services when determining how much to charge for each participant so that you make the profit you desire on the day. No matter how much fun a spa day can be, you still need to keep in mind that your overall goal is to raise money for your chosen cause.

After you have calculated the cost to each participant, you will then need to create your advertising. Be sure to create flyers and sign-up sheets that include the date, location, times, and cost. You will also need to put down a deadline for signing up. If you have a limited amount of space, let each sorority know that the spa day is first come first serve.

Before the event, make sure each of your sisters has a job to do. Whether it is making the spa supplies, setting up, cooking, or cleaning up, there is plenty to do for the day. Designate several people to be greeters, and others to escort those attending to stations where they can change into their robes and sorority flip flops. If you have each sorority submit payment prior to attending, then you do not have to worry about collecting money that day. However, with Avon or Mary Kay, they will have the opportunity to purchase products at the end, so you may need to have a safe place for everyone to put their belongings.

Once everyone is there, you can then enjoy your day. Allow your sisters some time to relax and enjoy some of the services by putting everyone on a rotation schedule. Then, let the pampering begin! At the end of the day, you may want to give away goodie bags with sorority merchandise and gifts to those who have come to enjoy the spa day.
