Since this organization’s founding on November 17, 1911 at Howard University, Omega Psi Phi has been a beacon for other black Greek organizations looking to make history. As the first African-American national fraternal organization to be founded at a historically black college, Omega Psi Phi was built upon a tradition of serving the African-American tradition - a promise which it still holds true to today. Omega Psi Phi offers a National Social Action Program to meet the needs of the African-American community through initiatives in health, housing, civil rights, and education. In addition, this fraternity has been a patron of the United Negro College Fund since 1955.

Today, Omega Psi Phi has more than 700 chapters around the world in countries that include the United States, Bermuda, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Korea, Japan, Liberia, Germany, and Kuwait. In addition, the Omegas head many programs around the world that focus on service, academics, and excellence, including Achievement Week, social action programs, memorial services, voter registration, NAACP membership, and the Talent Hunt program.
