Get Great Zeta Phi Beta Merchandise Zeta Phi Beta was founded on January 16, 1920 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The five black women who founded Zeta Phi Beta are Arizona Cleaver, Myrtle Tyler, Viola Tyler, Fannie Pettie, and Pearl Neal. These five founders are referred to the “Five Pearls” by the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. They founded Zeta Phi Beta on the principles of service, scholarship, sisterly love, and finer womanhood. They did not like the way other sororities at the time were elite groups that members joined more for the social status rather than having a real sense of purpose. They believed that there were more important social issues to address such as health issues, prejudices, and poverty. They wanted Zeta Phi Beta to reach college women all across the nation who wanted to join a sorority organization with a greater sense of helping others and fostering educational excellence. It was in this spirit and with this purpose that Zeta Phi Beta was created. As a result of the strong ideals to help others and create a better society, Zeta Phi Beta is involved in various charitable causes. Sisters are seen throughout the nation in communities wearing their Zeta Phi Beta sweatshirts, hats, T-shirts, pins, and apparel while volunteering their time. Zeta Phi Beta has a National Educational Foundation that offers scholarships, youth programs, supports organized charities, aids legislation for civic and social change, and volunteers to educate the public. The foundation has programs in communities to provide educational and vocational training to create higher standards of living and fight poverty. Zeta Phi Beta also partnerships with national charities in the Zetas Helping Other People Excel, or Z-HOPE program. Zeta Phi Beta has been partnered with the March of Dimes for almost thirty years and raised money for many charitable causes with them. The Stork’s Nest is a program that educates and encourages women who are pregnant to get first trimester prenatal care to have a healthier baby. Zeta Phi Beta helps sponsor more that 150 of the Stork’s Nest programs across America. The official colors of Zeta Phi Beta are royal blue and white. College campuses all over the nation have members who wear these colors to show their pride in being a member of Zeta Phi Beta. Zeta Phi Beta merchandise like rings, flip flops, and jewelry are available for sisters to wear. At formal events the white and royal blue colors are displayed with Zeta Phi Beta party favors, glasses, and other merchandise.
